Similarly in &#8220;sera&#8221; (evening) the &#8220;e&#8221; is pronounced like the &#8220;e&#8221; in &#8220;error&#8221; [ a long 'e' sound ], while in &#8220;serra&#8221; the &#8220;e&#8221; is said as a short closed &#8220;e&#8221; as in &#8220;set&#8221; and the rolled &#8220;r&#8221; is a bit more marked</p>
